Using BuilderMate on Mobile

BuilderMate is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means it works great in your mobile browser and can be installed directly to your home screen — no app store required.

Who Can Access This

All roles can use BuilderMate on mobile devices. Field Users will find the mobile experience especially useful since the interface is optimized for on-the-go work.

Installing BuilderMate on Your Phone

On iPhone (Safari)

1. Open Safari and go to your BuilderMate URL.
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
4. Tap "Add" in the top-right corner.

BuilderMate will now appear as an app icon on your home screen.

On Android (Chrome)

1. Open Chrome and go to your BuilderMate URL.
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
3. Tap "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen".
4. Confirm by tapping "Install" or "Add".

Pro Tip: Once installed, BuilderMate opens in full-screen mode without the browser toolbar. It looks and feels like a native app — your team won't know the difference.

What's Different on Mobile

BuilderMate automatically adapts its layout for smaller screens:

• Tables switch to card views — Instead of wide spreadsheet-style tables, you'll see stacked cards that are easy to scroll through and tap.
• Forms stack vertically — Input fields arrange themselves in a single column so you're not pinching and zooming to fill things out.
• Sidebar becomes a hamburger menu — Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner to open navigation, then tap any section to jump there.

Everything you can do on desktop is available on mobile (within your role's permissions). The data stays perfectly in sync — update something on your phone and it's instantly reflected on desktop, and vice versa.

Field User Mobile Workflow

If you're a Field User (or managing someone who is), here's what a typical mobile day looks like:

1. Check your schedule — Open the Schedule page to see today's appointments and where you need to be.
2. View lead details — Tap into a lead from the Leads page to see the summary tab with contact info, notes, and activity history.
3. Review project info — Open any assigned project to see scope, status, and details.
4. Access quotes and contracts — Pull up estimates to review with clients on-site, or check contract status.
5. Manage tasks — Check off completed tasks or see what's coming up next.
6. View your commissions — Check your personal commission earnings at any time.

Clocking In and Out with Work Hours

BuilderMate includes a Work Hours feature available at /work-hours. Here's how it works:

1. Navigate to the Work Hours page.
2. Tap Clock In when you start your shift or arrive at a job site.
3. BuilderMate captures your GPS location automatically when you clock in.
4. When you're done, tap Clock Out.

This gives your office team visibility into when and where field staff are working — no separate time-tracking app needed.

Good to Know: Your device will ask for location permission the first time you clock in. Make sure to allow it so your GPS coordinates are captured correctly.

Tips for the Best Mobile Experience

• Keep your browser updated — PWA features work best on the latest versions of Safari and Chrome.
• Use a strong connection — BuilderMate works on cellular data, but a stable connection ensures the smoothest experience.
• Install it to your home screen — The installed version loads faster and gives you the full-screen experience.
